LAG Omnipresent at the Fruit Logistica 2020
Berlin, Feb. 14, 2020: Now more than ever! This describes the Logistics Alliance Germany (LAG) motivation for the 2020 fruit logistica in Berlin. During the world’s largest fresh produce trade fair the Federal German logistics initiative was very visible. For the first time the LAG presence included an information stand in hall 26, a successful exhibition tour with Stefan Bilger, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, and numerous members of the LAG development association, and the eight traditional reception with about 100 invited guests at the Berlin Funkturm, the fair grounds’ world-famous landmark.
Although attendancees at the fruit logistica 2020 were confronted with tightened security and safety measures, and various Chinese exhibitors cancelled their participation at the last minute due to the harbingers of a global Corona pandemic, the trade show proved to be very successful again, with over 72.000 trade show visitors, and 3.300 exhibitors in three days from February 5-7, 2020.
„The decision to have our own stand was absolutely right“, said Michael Kuchenbecker, authorized officer for LNC and LAG director. “We had around 30 validated new contacts, producers from around the world, in particular, who stormed us with their inquiries about German logistics services.”
An 18 head-strong delegation joined State-Secretary Stefan Bilger during his demanding exhibition tour with visits to national stands of Ecuador, Morocco and Uruguay, as well as exhibitors from Germany, Italy, and logistics companies like Bremenports and Hapag-Lloyd. Nine associated LAG members with President Marc Oedekoven, IQS Holding, in the lead, completed the Federal Ministy of Transport and Digital Infrastructure’s (BMVI) expert team.
Again, the annual LAG fruit logistica reception on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, was a remarkable highlight. Completely booked out, around 100 invited special diplomatic guests and entrepreneurs gathered to network and talk business 60 meters above ground, overlooking the Berlin city skyline. Among the invitees, 11 ambassadors from Latin America, Africa and Europe, as well as various German logistics experts and business representatives enjoyed a busy night and spectacular clear view across the city.
